“Please, send me another invoice for this extra work.”
We’ve received several emails like this recently from happy clients.
I think we get them for two reasons:
1. We choose only to work with clients we really enjoy working with: good people doing good things in the world. They understand our skill and knowledge and appreciate when we go the extra mile.
2. We choose to go the extra mile. Doing the bare minimum is not special, no matter how good the work. It doesn’t make your clients feel special and cared for nor does it make you and your work appear special.
Note these are both choices.
Yes, it takes more of your time.
It takes more of your energy.
It takes more of your skills.
But aren’t your perfect clients worth it?
(If your answer is not a resounding “yes” then maybe it’s time to go back to your ideal client drawing board …)
